“The antidote to stress is relaxation.” –- Judith Lasiter,
A well-balanced yoga practice should include both dynamic and passive components and a restorative class is an excellent way to introduce that balance.
Restorative yoga is a therapeutic style that concentrates on surrendering our weight to supports and softening into the stretches to facilitate longer holds and to encourage a shift in our nervous system to a ‘rest and digest’ state of deep relaxation.
Join Rachel if you are in need of some extra nourishment and healing (or if you are training for the London Marathon!) This session will leave you feeling spacious, well rested and ready for bed.
The workshop will provide:
· conscious relaxation techniques that can be used outside the yoga room, encouraging you to take your practice off the mat and into the world
· ways to practice listening to your body and confront the “sticky” points where you store stress and tension
· progress towards a gradual, deep opening of the body and a calmer nervous system
Be sure to bring an extra layer or two of clothing and some warm socks to keep you cosy as you enjoy opening and resting in the poses.
